Durban shark cage diving

Preparing for your shark cage diving adventure in Durban is simple – we take care of most of the details so that you can focus on the excitement. Before you arrive, get a good night’s rest and eat a light breakfast or snack. Avoid heavy or greasy foods, as the ocean can be unpredictable, and you’ll want to feel your best out at sea.

Bring along your swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and a change of clothes. All diving and snorkeling gear is provided, so there’s no need to pack anything extra. If you have an underwater camera or GoPro, make sure it’s fully charged and secured with a strap – you’ll want to capture the incredible moment when a blacktip shark glides right past your cage.

Comfortable clothing and a sun hat are recommended while onboard. We suggest arriving at our Umkomaas dive centre at least 30 minutes before departure for registration, gear fittings, and a short safety briefing with our crew.

Our experienced team will walk you through everything – from how to use the cage safely to what to expect once the sharks arrive. Whether you’re a first-time diver or simply joining as a spectator, preparation is easy, and the thrill of seeing up to 20 oceanic blacktips in their natural environment is something you’ll never forget.
